Before Gaara was born, Rasa battled the beast on multiple occasions and managed to subdue him every time.
Rasa was even capable of squaring off against Shukaku, the Tailed Beast locked inside of Gaara's body. However, Rasa's gold is heavier than Gaara's sand, giving him some advantages in certain fights. This gives him a similar power set to Gaara, who was already one of the village's most powerful ninja as a child. Using an incredibly rare kekkai genkai ability known as Magnet Release, Rasa is capable of manipulating particles of gold dust in the same way that his son can naturally control sand.
In the years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, Sasuke Uchiha dedicated himself to aiding Naruto protect Konohagakure and its inhabitants, eventually coming to be known as the "Supporting Kage".Despite possibly being the weakest Kage in the series, Rasa is still an incredibly strong fighter (via Narutopedia). As such, Naruto, admitted that despite being Hokage, he was technically still a genin due to never finishing the Chūnin Exams due to the circumstances of him training away from the village and having to fight the Akatsuki after returning. In the anime, despite being Kage, a shinobi maintains their previous ranking. In the anime, according to Hashirama's account, soon after the creation of the title Hokage came the Raikage, Tsuchikage, Mizukage and Kazekage, in that order. In the anime, the Village Heads of Amegakure, Takigakure and Kusagakure, are acknowledged as Kage. Years later, the Seventh Hokage was also recognised in the same way.
